Clam Pass tips from locals
- Go early in season. From January to April the lot can fill up by late morning. Arriving early also means the best spot on the sand.
- Use the free tram. It runs along the boardwalk to the beach, which is a big help with little kids or on a hot afternoon.
- Walk the boardwalk slowly at least once. Look into the mangroves for wading birds and crabs. From December through April, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida runs guided nature walks Monday to Saturday.
- Plan for no dogs. Pets aren't allowed at Clam Pass Park, so leave the pup at your rental.
- Stay for sunset. The Gulf sunset here is the reason many people come back. You'll have your chairs and cooler right there.
- The park has restrooms, foot showers and a restaurant, so you can settle in for the whole day.
